A Violent Yet Flammable World - Au Revoir Simone

What a joy to experience. First heard this track during episode 9 of the new season of Twin Peaks wherein Au Revoir Simone gave their second incredible performance at the Roadhouse Bar. Both this song and "Lark" can be found on their 2007 album entitled The Bird of Music.

The ethereal harmonies between the trio of extremely talented female musicians, along with the keyboard/synth arrangement, conjure a dreamscape atmosphere in which we're able to reside, if only for a moment.

As if that’s not enough, they're talented poets as well:

Tonight I sleep to dream
Of a place that’s calling me
It is always just a dream
Still I cannot forget what I have seen
The crowd’s hard to believe
At their faces I’m looking
But your feet I’m following
In soft steps on a path the way you lead
— Au Revoir Simone, "A Violent Yet Flammable World"

Anthology Resource Vol. 1 - Dean Hurley

This is a must listen. Hopefully, you've immersed yourself in the world of Twin Peaks and experienced this ambient assembly of sounds developed for the most moving 18-hour film you will ever witness (Twin Peaks:  The Return). Wow, Bob, wow.

Dean Hurley and David Lynch have worked together for some time and Hurley has operated Lynch's Asymmetrical Studios for over 12 years now. This is his first of hopefully many anthological contributions.

Sacred Bones Records is worth checking out in their own right, too. A bundle of great bands to imbibe.
